Friday, January 3 at 6 pm signups begin for our first Commander Draft of this season! Our first 3 month cycle was so popular, we’re offering it again – with a twist! New tokens, new promos and new sets in the pool.
First of all, let’s look at the exclusive promos you can only get at Just Games – that’s right, we create, commission and offer these exclusively to Commander Draft players.
Monthly Exclusive tokens
Each month we will have a new, exclusive Artist Series token with original art from some of Magic’s favorite artists. This season the promos are done by the incredible Jeanne D’Angelo. Check this one out, or view a gallery of all past and upcoming tokens here
Since these are tokens, they are 100% useable game pieces in any format you may play – including tournaments. All of the art is exclusively done for Just Games Commander Drafts – there’s no other way to get it.
Seasonal Rewards
This season you can earn a promo foil Crucible of Worlds for playing in at least 10 drafts OR a Neon Yellow Cavern of Souls (both are while supplies last). This season we’re also releasing the 2024 tokens as an option for players that want to “catch up” – do 10 drafts, and get 1 of each remaining token from 2024. So you can get the 2024 tokens, a Neon Yellow Cavern of Souls or a Crucible of Worlds. All are while supplies last.
The season runs 3 months, through Sept, so that leaves you plenty of time to earn this reward. If you’re a drafter and a Commander player, this night is for you.
Format
Each season, we’ll rotate the specific packs available on a given FNM to create a curated Commander Draft experience. You can expect, at first, to receive 1 Pack of a Commander Set, 1 of a Wild Card slot, and 1 of a Legend-Heavy set. The Wild Card will generally, but not always, be the newest released “standard” set.
For example, at the start of Season 3 we will provide 1 pack of Commander Baldur’s Gate, 1 of Foundations, and 1 of March of the Machine. When Innistrad Remastered launches it will replace March of the Machine or Foundations, and when Aetherdrift releases that will be swapped again.
Registration is at 6 pm, with draft beginning at 6:30. Draft will be 30 minutes, with players constructing a 40 card Commander deck (instead of 60) in the Commander Draft format. Players will play 1 round at a pod of 3 or 4 players, with a time limit of 150 minutes (2.5 hours). The last player standing will earn 2 Play boosters, everyone else will get 1 Play booster. All players participating will get that month’s token, and a stamp toward their Cavern of Souls.
Cost
Like our Standard Draft on Wednesday, these drafts are $25.
