Game Master Appreciation Day, Oct 5

October 5 is Game Master Appreciation Day! Your game master is a huge part of making your role-playing games special, and it’s time for you to show your love. Fill out the form below and submit it to nominate your game master! Every game master, and anyone in the group they bring with them on October 5, gets 20% off RPGs and Accessories. What’s more, we’ll have a care package of free RPG books waiting for your Game Master when they come to the front desk on October 5 – totally free of charge.

We’re not saying you should give them the tools to make your player character’s lives harder, we’re saying you should let us give them those tools.

Nominations are now closed so we can prep GM care packages! Thank you!

See what players have been saying about their amazing Game Masters!

Below are quotes from some of our local players about their game masters – some of these play D&D, some play in home games, some are at Epic D&D on Tuesdays. One thing binds these groups together – their game master’s are really amazing folks!

GM Bryan

Bryan accepted all of us flaws and all and helped us create a meaningful and powerful story. He was always willing to answer questions and make things happen.

GM John

If I was going to point to one thing, it’s would be his desire to collaborate with his players. He goes out of his way to include concepts we want our characters to achieve and adapts to our crazy ideas on the fly. If gaming really is cooperative story telling, then John really brings the co-op.

GM Mike

From my point of view, it seems like Mike puts a lot of thought into the adventures he crafts, but he never pushes the players into anything. He knows the world he’s dropping us into, brings it to life, and lets us explore. Plus he hosts all the time, which is no small feat. (Also a big thanks to the rest of his family for putting up with a bunch of nerds every few weeks.)

GM Dave

Dave is one of the most creative people I’ve ever met. From his incredible improvisation to his beautiful on-the-fly maps, Dave never ceases to amaze! Even while not GMing, he helps elevate the rest of the table.

GM Aaron

Aaron is both directly and indirectly responsible for me sinking hours and hours of my life into RPGs by first getting my kids hooked on D&D, and then getting me hooked on everything that’s not D&D. He’s a gifted GM with an infectious passion for RPGs!

GM Anthony

Anthony took a group of people he had never met and had very different levels of experience and play styles and took us in a campaign from level 3 all the way up to level 16. He grew up with the crunchy, TPK-heavy early systems and managed to run a 5e game that made everyone happy, whether they were interested in combat, their character’s arc, or exploring the world he built around us.

GM Angela

Angela wrote our entire campaign herself! She makes maps and other imagery to enhance our experience. She orders, paints, and restructures minis to fit her story. She thoughtfully includes everyone in the party in unique ways. She’s totally deserving of recognition for being a great GM!

GM Dan

Dan is a highly creative guy who has been weaving stories, creating amazing worlds for our characters to inhabit, and running awesome games for me and my friends for nearly 20 years. He is extremely generous with his time, his energy, and his willingness to let us succeed and fail. In fact, he coined one of our group’s running gags/mottos: “You can *try* anything.”

GM Pradip

Pradip is a dynamic storyteller, master of many voices, and GM extraordinaire. The energy and excitement he brings to every session (seriously, every single session) defines our roleplaying experiences. He is adept at engaging every player, which can be challenging due to our collectively enthusiastic, and frenetic, energy. I honestly don’t know how he does it, but he hears everyone, and we all matter.

GM Torra

Torra is the most patient and thoughtful GM I’ve ever had the honor to play with. Our table comes with different levels of experience and comfort, and Torra always makes sure to take everyone’s needs into account. She goes above and beyond by keeping all our information organized for the players, and even writes up recap notes for every session! No matter what we’re playing, I know it will be a blast with Torra at the helm….Torra is incredibly patient and kind with both experienced players and newer players like myself….Torra is an incredible GM! She’s creative, organized, and amazing at working with the world, story, and characters. I always look forward to her games and I appreciate her so much.

GM Mark

Mark is an awesome DM! His encyclopedic knowledge of, and enthusiasm for the game is surpassed only by his patience at the table. He knows when to be a stickler and when to roll with it. His dedication and enjoyment for playing with us all has made a decades-long dream of playing again a reality for more than one of us at the table!

GM Brad

During COVID, Brad ran four (FOUR!!!) RPGs in four different systems (Cthulhu, DnD, Starfinder, and DCC) with four different storylines for four different sets of friends. Furthermore, he writes most of his modules. He’s known for being funny, fair, and flexible; and, sadly, he rarely gets to role-play because people always want him to DM.

GM Azure

I was extremely burnt out on playing forever DM, and my partner Azure stepped up to DM their first full campaign so I could take a break! We started playing over discord when we lived in Maryland and now we have almost weekly meetings around the dining room table. We’re now at 2 years of the jelly babies and it’s made us so much closer to our family!

GM Emily

Emily has been the most fun GM I’ve had in a long time. She has welcomed my wife and I into an already large group and made us feel right at home. She is inclusive and encourages everyone to participate in their own way.

GM Sean

Sean writes awesome plot, weaves in his characters backstories to make them feel more connected to the plot, he draws custom chibi magnets of every character (pc and npc) and uses them on a giant whiteboard where he depicts the world. He also writes and publishes his own systems and takes his players’ feedback into the development of future systems. His worlds are complex and infinite, and I never feel railroaded by plot or limited by the system to accomplish what I want

GM Tim

Tim gave us the freedom to be our goofy selves during a tough campaign, helping us have fun but also still providing a challenge along the way. I had the best time playing an oblivious and annoying (but lovable) character, which must have been quite the challenge for a GM trying to balance the flow of a new campaign (and not destroy us out of frustration). I appreciate him for all of the work that he had done.

GM Surj

Surj is an incredible GM that really breathes life into his world and characters. He is always making sure that his campaign is fun, engaging, and a safe space for everyone involved, which I hope he knows is appreciated. He spends most of his free time cooking up new ideas for future sessions, always one step ahead. I find his creative image to be an exciting part of our week, and I can’t wait until we have another session.
