Modern Horizons 2 in-store prereleases return!
In light of New York State adopting the CDC’s recently revised COVID-19 guidelines for fully-vaccinated people, we are pleased to say organized play will return to Just Games on June 11! This will kick off with our Modern Horizons 2 pre-release series starting on June 11.
We will return to our weekly schedule of events the following week. Look for announcements regarding those events coming soon.
Prerelease in store?
Absolutely! You’ll need to provide proof of vaccination to enter the game room, use the board game library or bathrooms, or participate in any events, but otherwise you can preregister now!
Make sure to download the Wizards Companion app and arrive 15 minutes early with proof of vaccination. We will have prerelease events on these days and times

Guidelines
The good news here, is that if you’re fully vaccinated, per the CDC and New York State’s revised requirements you can:
Resume activities without wearing masks or physically distancing, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance
That’s the guidance we’ve been waiting for – we can now play ALL the games we once offered, if and only if, players are fully vaccinated. So, how do we know if everyone is vaccinated, you may ask?
Proof of vaccination required to play
To participate in events customers will need to present a New York State Excelsior Pass, OR a valid COVID-19 vaccination card. These measures will begin on June 11.
If you choose to use the Excelsior Pass, you will need to provide your QR code in the original app – not a screenshot. Vaccine cards must be presented in the original format, not a photograph, showing a final dose at least 14 days prior to the event. No exceptions.
This is the only way for us to ensure compliance with the regulations that permit us to game together. We do not make policy; but we are tasked with ensuring our company abides by it. If you have concerns about this, we strongly suggest taking it up with New York State and not our staff.
If you cannot or do not wish to do either, you will not be permitted to participate in events or enter the game room or bathrooms.
What if I’m not vaccinated?
If you cannot get an Excelsior Pass or show proof of vaccination, we ask that you refrain from attempting to participate in scheduled events at Just Games.
Please note that falsifying an Excelsior Pass or other vaccine documents, or entering the game room without presenting them, will result in a ban from Just Games, with no further warning than this. All our staff are empowered to deny service to anyone that refuses to follow store policies or local law.
You are welcome to shop in our retail storefront, with a mask on if unvaccinated. For the time being, our staff will continue to wear masks as a courtesy to you regardless of our vaccine status. The masks are to protect you from our virus, and we want to keep you safe! We ask that you extend us the same courtesy if you are unvaccinated.
